The memorial complex to sailors who died in peacetime installed in Murmansk. It is located in the Leninsky District, on the slope between Chelyuskintsev Street and Geroyev-Severomortsev Prospekt. It was unveiled on October 5, 2002. The opening was timed to coincide with City Day (October 4). The architectural dominant of the memorial complex is a 17.5-meter-tall hexagonal lighthouse tower. Wide marble staircases with observation decks go to the lighthouse from both sides. The Church of the Savior on the Waters is located on the upper platform. It is planned to plant trees on both sides of the stairs. A ship's anchor with a capsule of sea water placed under it is installed next to the lighthouse.
