The Lenin nuclear icebreaker is the world's first surface vessel with a nuclear power plant. The icebreaker was built in the Soviet Union to service the Northern Sea Route and ensure continuous navigation, and was transferred to the USSR Ministry of the Marine Fleet on December 3, 1959. It was unveiled on October 5, 2002. The opening was timed to coincide with City Day (October 4). The architectural dominant of the memorial complex is a 17.5-meter-tall hexagonal lighthouse tower. Wide marble staircases with observation decks go to the lighthouse from both sides. The Church of the Savior on the Waters is located on the upper platform. It is planned to plant trees on both sides of the stairs. A ship's anchor with a capsule of sea water placed under it is installed next to the lighthouse.28 April#8913152
